Mandala #1 is a regular strain that comes from a combination between a strong, resistant South African strain and a cross between an indica from New Zealand with a sativa strain from North India. The resulting plant shows its sativa side during the vegetative period and the pre-flowering period, although once it starts to flower it’ll start to produce some very clearly indica flowers. This strain is perfect for growing outdoors and indoors, as well as for making clones and keeping certain phenotypes. This strain does well with lots of stressful processes. The end result consists of thick flowers that can go purple, covered in a thick layer of resin.
Pretty much anyone can grow this strain regardless of how experienced they are, although experienced and expert growers are capable of harvesting over 450 g – beginners can still manage to harvest a decent 350 g per m2 without needing to make much of an effort at all. Keep in mind that it grows pretty sturdily, and it only needs 20 days of vegetative growth. Once you flip it to flower it can grow up to 1.5 m at the most. The best way to do this is by placing 9 plants per square meter, although you’ll need to germinate more seeds and get rid of the male seeds; this strain is regular. You can also use a SoG system with clones or a SCRoG system with less flowers in order to increase yields. This strain should be ready to harvest after 55 flowering days.
Mandala #1 is incredibly easy to grow outdoors, and it’s where it definitely performs best in as far as yield and flower quality. It’s hard to make an exact comparison between indoor growing, as the two methods vary incredibly, but we do know that it’s one of the fastest-flowering strains on the market, producing over a kilo of dry cannabis. This strain was bred in order to produce good results in areas with short summers and bad weather starting in October – if you live somewhere where it tends to rain a lot, this strain is perfect. In as far as growth and structure, this plant does pretty well in any environment, producing amazing results even when given few nutrients. It can grow up to 2 m tall towards the end of the bloom, ready to harvest towards the end of September. Use a On Balance KB-5000 Scale to weigh your yield.
Depending on the phenotype, its effect may be a bit more sativa, producing an intense euphoric and mentally active sensation, or it might be slightly more indica with more of a physically relaxing sensation. This strain also produces 1% CBG content, which is rare in psychoactive cannabis plants, although the sativa phenotype doesn’t produce CBG, making the indica version more medicinal. Its aroma and flavor can also vary depending on the phenotype, although both phenotypes have a combination of intense sweet flavors, alongside an acidic, fresh aftertaste that’s similar to apple and mint.
Mandala #1 comes from an intense stabilization process, and although a lot of work was put into keeping this strain nice and stable, it still produces two different phenotypes. On the one hand, it has a more sativa phenotype that grows incredibly fast, producing large branches that grow almost as tall as the main stem; this version also goes beautiful purple colors and produces a more pungent aroma. The other phenotype is clearly more indica thanks to its compact structure, shorter branches and intense green color. This phenotype allows you to grow more plants per square meter, producing sweeter flavors too.
