Mushroom Substrate: high quality and ease of use

A Mushroom Substrate is an essential part of the growing process of mushrooms. It consists of a carefully prepared mix that works the same as soil for plants but in Mycology.

This substrate is composed of rye, vermiculite, perlite and gypsum. These compounds have been selected for their ability to retain moisture and provide the proper basis for mycelium’s development, which is the filaments’ mass of fungi. In addition, the gypsum has been added to adjust pH levels and improve the substrate’s texture. Lastly, the humidity levels of this product range 60-65%, the ideal values for mushrooms’ development.

How to inoculate spores in the Mushroom Substrate

The growing process starts by inoculating the substrate with the spores of your chosen mushroom’s strain. This is normally done by using a syringe to introduce a small amount. Generally, since every syringe contains millions of spores, only 3-4 ml of the content are required (which equals 2 or 3 drops).

The mycelium takes approximately a week to colonize the substrate and, once it is fully expanded, you can start growing your magic mushrooms as you’d do with a regular growing kit. This way, we can provide a proper temperature-humidity environment for the mushrooms to successfully develop.
